let's write English

poikia3
This morning I was happily suprized by my previous english teacher. He used to give lessons at my office, and suddenly moved back to Britain because of family reasons. Yesterday he accepted me as a friend in facebook, and this morning I got a message from him. I found it extremely hard to write in english after a quite long break. Nowadays I don't even need english in my current job.

So I must admit, even I do need a practise with writing.

What kind of weather should I expect to be in London in early September? Does it rain often at that time of year and how is the temperature? I am hopingit would at least around 20 degrees warm so I could stay outdoors without jacket. =)
WEather could be anything. WE r still waiting for the heatwave so you might get lucky! Seriously, September is often very nice and warm.

Ok, my English is very poor when I´m writing it. Nothing comes to mind. And when I have to speak English, I go plank... :( But if I am in a country where I must speak it, it will come easier and easier in a couple of days and in the end, I speak it very well, well... if you ask me.. ;)

I was on a businestrip in Germany last month and I spoke so terrible English at the beginning that I wanted to vanish away... It was so embarrising (iik, miten kirjoitetaan oikeesti, en tiä)

I am going to stay in a hotel in London. I booked it through net and it cost me around 640 ? for 10 nights for two person so it's a double room. Yes, I feel the hotels in London are expensive. Our hotel is modest but the location is quite a central one and we aren't going to stay in the hotel so much so that's fine for us. But you will really struggle to find budget range hotel in London. I have no experience of B&B, but I have read good reviews about them. I think it's a personal issue, some people like them, some not. But if you wanna take a budget type accommodation, you can always book room with shared bathroom and the price will go down. Our hotel has own private bathroom because I like to have some privacy.
A private bathroom full of mold, that is. Unless you book a room in a very expensive hotel, you'll end up in a dump.
I don't care so much, it will be only 10 days anyway so if there is mold it's not so big issue afterall. I just want to have an own bathroom so I can wash my teeth and walk to bathroom whenever I want without queing there. =)
i think theres mold in every bathroom in uk. they use those...mmm...carpets.."fullfloorcarpets" :D and ive seen them climbing up the bathtub. this is something i cannot explain in english. lol. you know, the carpet either goes under the tub or it bends to lean against the tub.

did anyone get what i meant? tell me how to write it right?
what is kokolattiamatto in english?
Carpeting is the right word, or wall-to-wall if you want to distinguish between a rug and wall-to-wall carpets.
ok,thanks! again i learned something new :)

My biggest problem with writing in english is, that ive used to write to text messages, where i try to make words as short as possible. you know, "how r u, hav a gd nit" etc. So even now i have to be carefull so i put all the letters in words :D

i´d love to get some new foreigner friends so i could practise my english with them, but somehow they are so hard to find :/

I have to take many of cider, that I dare to speak English. Even now, the translator had to ask google for help. And when I am talking about a small drunk, I will be really bad English.
cider or beer is a good help, even better than google translator. When I was the first time in London and met my penpal who and whose family and friends spoke cockney, I was thinking first how I manage with them the time I wanted to be with them. But after a couple of pubs and a couple of beer I understand all was speaking a lot myself too (but probably not cockney anyway).
